Building Permits

The Building License (or better building permit as it has been renamed with the new legislation) is an approval that you must necessarily receive if you plan to build a new home, but also for a number of other jobs. It is issued by the competent Building Service (formerly known as Urban Planning) and, as we will see below, its application is accompanied by several documents and studies.

Except for the construction of new homes, the building permit is needed for many other activities, such as the addition of a section to an existing structure, for extensive repairs or reinforcement of a building, for the change of use of a building professional space, roof replacement, and the demolition of a building. In all these cases, it is not considered whether the building is in or out of design, but each case requires a permit.
